Dan is very active in the education technology sector in the UK and internationally, as an investor, executive, mentor and advisor. He was recently voted as one of education technology’s top 100 most influential leaders globally. Dan has been involved in technology and media business for over 20 years. After stints at PwC and Mitsui, Dan co-founded a London based technology outsourcing business, later backed by venture capital. He went on to become the chief executive and chairman of the Indian business. The team exited to United Utilities and then again to private equity. On returning to the UK, Dan ran a software business backed by Carlyle Private Equity. After exiting to a trade buyer, Dan co-founded and chaired a workforce and skills management business, Swift Shift. This business has since relocated to the US and Swift Shift is backed by Episode1 (UK) and Bowery Capital (US). He has invested a number of ed tech companies, including seed funding Youth4work, which is a vocationally-focused assessment platform with users in Asia and South America. Dan was until recently chairman and chief executive of Digital Assess, acquired by VTCT in 2016 and remains on the advisory board. Currently, he works on buy-side opportunities in education with private equity.
